I was an architectural designer at PWD in Beijing, when our studio got a commission to prepare conception of an entrance plot for Admiral Gateway in Malacca.
A bird-view of the proposed project during the sunrise.
The main task of the project was to provide a design of the entrance plot, containing 5 starts hotel, service-apartments, and commercial space.
A perspective of the three towers presented from nearby resort.
We decided to split main functions into 3 separate buildings when leaving the hotel in the most exposed north-west part of the plot. Other functions were allocated into 2 smaller towers. The greatest challenge, however, was to locate all parking places above the ground. It was caused by proximity to the sea and tropical climate.
A general master plan presenting 3 towers and surroundings.
After providing the concept design of the 3 towers, a local architect in Malaysia was hired to provide construction drawings. Our studio was responsible for consultations and solving design decisions, while the local architect provided technical documentation.
The 3 towers serve as entrance to the estate.
